The Secular Liberal West, not Islam, is in Need of Change

The Secular Liberal West, not Islam, is in Need of Change

written by Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir in Australia

Former Prime Minister Tony Abbott yesterday, 08/12/2015, added his voice to an ever-growing raft of former and current Federal Government ministers calling for Islam to be “reformed”. Speaking to Paul Murray on Sky News and in an opinion piece published in the Daily Telegraph, he called for a “religious revolution inside Islam”, claiming also the superiority of western culture: “a culture that believes in decency and tolerance is much to be preferred to one which thinks that you can kill in the name of God.”

Such calls do not come as a surprise in the least. What we are now seeing from government ministers is merely the more blunt articulation of what has been government policy for years. Indeed, Tony Abbot himself made very similar comments as the Federal Health Minister in the Howard Government way back in 2006.

The aim of reforming Islam is to maintain and further western economic and political subjugation of the Muslim world by doing away with those aspects of Islam that make it a liberating force from oppression. Locally, the aim is to force assimilation by westernising and secularising Islam to make it more submissive to modern secular, liberal ideological and political norms.

Uthman Badar, media representative of Hizb ut Tahrir Australia, said,

“The political agenda, of Tony Abbott and Malcolm Turnbull alike, should be clear to all: forced assimilation of Muslims justified on exaggerated fears of a security threat.

What decency and tolerance does Mr. Abbott speak of? The decency by which millions in the Muslim World are made to live perpetually miserable lives under despots propped up by western states? Or the tolerance of giving them the options to be killed by drones, fighter jets or machine guns?

If violent reactions by unrepresentative Muslim individuals point to a problem in Islam, then the mass violence inflicted by elected western governments on entire nations since the self-declared Enlightenment till this day must point to a thousand problems in western secular liberal ideology.

Islam is not up for negotiation or reform and is not in need of such. On the contrary, it is the secular liberal west, which has led humanity for the last three centuries and brought it to the deplorable state it is now in, that needs revolutionary change.”

Obituary of Abd Al-Hadi Faour Hassan Faour, member of the Ameer’s office

Obituary of Abd Al-Hadi Faour Hassan Faour, member of the Ameer’s office

written by Ata Bin Khalil Abu Rashtah

“Of the believers are men who are true to that which they covenanted with Allah. Some of them have paid their vow by death (in battle), and some of them still are waiting; and they have not altered in the least”
(Al-Ahzab: 23)

The Ameer of Hizb ut Tahrir, the members of the Ameer’s office, the Madhalim’s Council, the Central Office and Hizb ut Tahrir in general mourns.

They mourn to the Muslim Ummah the member of the Ameer’s office Abd Al-Hadi Faour Hassan Faour (Abu Mahmoud) who passed away at noon on the 22nd of Safar 1437 AH corresponding to 4th of December 2015 CE, at the age of 81.

Abu Mahmoud was an active member of Hizb ut Tahrir from its beginning, he accompanied both Sheikhs Abu Ibrahim and Abu Yousef, may Allah سبحانه وتعالى have mercy upon them. He also accompanied Hizb ut Tahrir’s present Ameer and he was their pillar and support, serious and diligent in his work for the resumption of the Islamic life through the establishment of the righteous Khilafah State. He would have loved to witness the rise of the Khilafah to gain from the goodness and reward of what Allah wills. But the Almighty passed him away to Him سبحانه وتعالى so he can attain a greater goodness and a bigger reward in Paradise inshallah:

فِي مَقْعَدِ صِدْقٍ عِنْدَ مَلِيكٍ مُقْتَدِرٍ

“Firmly established in the favour of a Mighty King”
(Al-Qamar: 55)

He was, may Allah have mercy upon him, sincere to Allah Almighty in his Imaan and true to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in following in his ﷺ example. He was honorable, and we do not commend anyone over Allah, from the ones that:

صَدَقُوا مَا عَاهَدُوا اللَّهَ عَلَيْهِ فَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ قَضَى نَحْبَهُ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَنْتَظِرُ وَمَا بَدَّلُوا تَبْدِيلًا

“Who are true to that which they covenanted with Allah. Some of them have paid their vow by death (in battle), and some of them still are waiting; and they have not altered in the least”
(Al-Ahzab: 23)

May Allah have mercy upon you Abu Mahmoud, your parting saddens us and we only say what Allah Almighty has commanded us to say:

الَّذِينَ إِذَا أَصَابَتْهُمْ مُصِيبَةٌ قَالُوا إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ

“Who say, when a misfortune strikes them: we surely belong to Allah and to Him we shall return”
(Al-Baqarah: 156)

so to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.

Your brother ‘Ata Bin Khalil Abu Rashtah specifically and the Shabab of Hizb ut Tahrir in general
